ABOUT HEATING FILM

The heating film is a flexible, thin infra-red electric heater. It is offered in different heating capacities and widths. The heat and infra-red generator is a mixture of graphite paste and the heating power depends on its density and proportion.

The main applications of heating films are:

  • Underfloor heating
  • Ceiling heating
  • Wall heating
TECHNOLOGY

The heating films work based on an electric resistance of the carbon. The infrared heating film consists of the selected carbon and an aluminum paste deposited, thanks to the modern technology (the printing technique), on the PET foil. This material has perfect insulating and fire-proof qualities. The PET foil is secured by the special LAMINEX foil. The electrode made of a copper band allows flowing of the current and the silver band is secured from the sparking.

THE HEATING FILM VS THE HEATING MAT

The heating film, contrary to the classical cables or heating mats, warms up the entire surface and not only one place, through the line with a high temperature, thanks to which we can install it under almost every surface.
The heating film uses 50% less electric energy than the traditional heating mats.

USAGE
HOUSES AND FLATS
Use a foil system as the primary heating of homes, apartments or as an alternative to currently installed heating. In addition, the foil can be used as a heater and anti-fog mirror system.

HOTELS AND GUESTHOUSES
Individual heating of individual rooms in hotels guarantees the lowest heating costs. We avoid unnecessary heating of the interior with a small occupancy of guests, dynamic start-up guarantees warmth in a short time and when we need it.

RESTAURANTS
The ability to freely arrange the interior without having to install radiators and surface heating controlled by the thermoregulator guarantee complete control over the temperature in each zone, limiting operating costs.

OFFICE
Heating with our heating system provides heat in a time when we need it and in a place where it is needed. Premises not heated does not generate costs.
FITNESS
The use of surface heating ensures precise temperature control, does not dry the air, thus creating an ideal climate for practicing.

KINDERGARTENS
Heating foil provides a warm floor. Unlike other forms of heating, it creates the perfect environment for learning and fun for our children.

Qualified electrician need to connect power from main electricity box to the safety switch max 16Amp from safety switch power need to be connected to the thermostat, heating film is connected directly to the thermostat. Connection need to be done the same way if traditional heating mats are used. Please contact us for installation guide if Nest thermostat connection is required.

Heating foil distributes heat more evenly, made in the latest technology, uses electric resistance to generates infrared Long-wavelength 8 to 15 microns, if all conditions are meet this can reduce heating cost up to 50%.

There is no need to cover 100% room area. This product is highly efficient and provides high thermal comfort even if 75% floor area is covered. First cover areas that are used most walk way, center of the room when you actually used. Avoid Installation under flat bottom furniture, Installation under furniture on legs is permitted. Keep minimum distance from the wall 100mm / 4 inch.

All items are stored in UK based Warehouse all orders received and paid before 11 am are sent out the same day 24H tracked and insured service, we work with UPS Fedex.

Thermostats have a load limit 16Amp for trouble-free use  only 80% permissible load.
One thermostat is connected to one section, all section / areas are controlled separately.
Temperature can be set up individually in each room.
Our thermostats are calibrated for max energy sevings.

All our heating systems, whether it is cable or carbon film, come with a full set of installation instructions, providing a simple step by step instructions. Most systems can be installed on a DIY basis. But the final electrical connection should be made by a qualified electrician.

The temperature of each room is individually controlled by a programmable thermostat

No heat losses, heat is generated in the place of usage.

Precise temperature control from your smartphone, only turns on heating when needed.

This technology uses Far infrared radiation, heats up objects, not the air, this means air temperature can be reduced on average 2°C

In high energy rating houses, low Voltage heating film can be used 60W/m, 80W/m, 140W/m.

The heating film can be connected to the photovoltaic panels or any renewable energy source to reduce the heating cost to 0 GBP.

To optimise efficiency we strongly recommend use floor insulation.

A 5m2 floor fitted with heating film and 5mm foam insulation would cost approximately 0.15p per day to run, this is based on the heating system being on twice a day for two hours each time, this assumes a 50% duty cycle once the floor has reached temperature and assumes a cost of 0.13p per kWh.

Heating film power has no impact on energy usage, the only difference will be floor heating up time.

For most domestic size rooms the system can usually be connected to an existing household ring main circuit, wiring via a fused switch spur. For larger areas, a single dedicated circuit from the main unit may be needed. The thermostat will accept 16 Amps. All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician.  Care must be taken to ensure that the combined load does not exceed the switching capacity of the thermostat.

Heating film powerMax heating film area for 16A thermostat (square meters)
80 W/m²42m²
140 W/m²23m²
180 W/ m²18m²
220 W/m²14m²
400 W/m²8m²

This will vary depending on the subfloor and the insulation material. Better the insulation the quicker it will heat up. Heating up time depend on heating film power. 220W/m heat up 12mm engineering wood in 5 minutes, concreted floors heat up around 15 minutes but also retain heat for a longer time.

The thermostats come supplied with a floor probe that will continuously monitor your floor temperature. We always recommend installing a floor probe in your floor especially if you use 200W or 180W heating film power this is a key to control your floor temperature.

Higher house energy rating = lower heating film power required. For new build, passive houses use 80W/m or 60W/m this becoming a very popular solution in Germany, Poland, Norway, Netherlands.

Yes, Note you can’t place ceramic tiles directly on the heating film, the concrete screed is necessary, minimum 30mm. If you can’t build up floor this high use heating wire this is a simple solution and allow you to lay down ceramic tiles directly on the subfloor, wire diameter is only 3.6mm

When using heating foil under laminate, engineered wood or ceramic tiles our foam thermal insulation should always be used. It not only provides thermal insulation, reducing running costs but acts as a method of sound deadening and forms a suitable non-abrasive surface on which heating film can sit.

This is also perfect underlay no other underlay or insulation is required.

Do not use any insulation material with electric cable mats.

Yes if you have 5 thermostats in your house you can control all from one smartphone or I pad from any place in the world with access to the Ethernet. All rooms/thermostats are controlled separately.

Connection must be made via a 30mA RCD. We highly recommend the final connection to be fitted by a fully qualified electrician in accordance with the current wiring regulations.

The heating film is cover with 6 years warranty. We can offer a lifetime warranty if the system is installed by an authorised installer with an issued certificate.

Electric underfloor heating systems are ideal for conservatories. When using electric underfloor heating in this sort of area we would strongly recommend the use of the 220W/m² system or the 180W/m² for wooden or laminate floors. We would also highly recommend using suitable insulation.

Electric underfloor heating cables must never be cut, mats consist of a cable fixed to a nylon web. Whilst the cable must not be cut you can cut the web at any point to allow the mat to be laid out to suit the shape of the room. See our installation videos.

Carbon heating film can be cut every 250mm is available in three widths 1 meter/50cm/250mm.
